Day 1 Airport pick up Hotel
The tour starts at Cali´s Airport around 5 pm. From there, we’ll go to Alko Hotel Integrado is offering accommodation in the south of Cali. Located around 1 km from Unicentro Shopping Center and Jardin Plaza Shopping Center, it’s close to restaurants, important universities and health centers. It also offer a SPA that is available everyday.
The hotel with free WiFi is also 5,5 km away from Las Garzas Eco-Park.

Day 2 Paramo Purace
The Puracé National Park is located in the Central Andean Region of Colombia (3000 – 4500 masl.), southeast of the city of Popayán. We’ll leave the hotel in Cali at 4:30 am and arrive to Puracé at 8:00am where we will have breakfast. Then we’ll visit the Condor rock. This is the place where the magnificent Condor of the Andes comes to be fed regularly. (there’s a 70% chance we’ll get to see it). This is the best place to photograph this majestic bird. You may get great pictures of the Cóndor on the Rock or soaring the sky above the spectacular cliffs of the Colombian central Andes. We will also enjoy the beautiful scenery of the magical Puracé Paramo, with it’s mystical mist above the San Rafael lagoon and San Juan hot-springs. We’ll go birding around the trails, where we may do incidental photography for Scarlet bellied Mountain Tanager, Collared Inca, Carunculated Caracara, Black capped Tyrannulet, Streak throated Bush Tyrant, Crowned Chat Tyrant, Rufous breasted Chat Tyrant, Brown backed Chat Tyrant, Golden fronted Redstart, Scarlet bellied Mountain Tanager, Black Flowerpiercer, Slaty Brush Finch, Blue backed Conebill, Pale naped Brush Finch, Golden crowned Tanager, Superciliared Hemispingus and many other species. In the afternoon we will go to the hotel Arcada Payanesa (o la Herrería Colonial) at Popayan .

Day 3 Return to Cali/ Pance
We will drive in the Morning to Cali and arrive to Pance, 30 minutes south/west of Cali, at noon. We will have lunch and check the hummingbird feeders at el Balcón de los Colibríes. Where we will be looking for the amazing Long billed Starthroat, Black Throated Mango, Fawn breasted Brilliant, Rufous Tailed Hummingbird, Masked Trogon, Golden faced Tyrannulet, Green Jay, Rusty margined Flycatcher, Crimson Backed Tanager, Blue necked Tanager, Bay headed Tanager, thick billed Euphonia among Others. Arround 3 pm we will go to El Topacio where we will do incidental photography. We will be looking for andean Cock of the rock , Sickle winged Guan,Collared Trogon, Andean Motmot, Moustached Puffbird, Red Crowned Woodpecker, Lineated Woodpecker, Blue headed Parrot, Barred Crested Antshrike, endemic Crested Ant Tanager, Yellow bellied siskin among many others. At Dusk we will go to La Minga Eco-Lodge where we will spend the night.

Day 4 La Minga
The tour continue to La Minga, an ecolodge located within the Rio Bitaco forest reserve. We will check in, go birding (till dusk, if your arrival time allows it), and relax in our first night. La Minga is a cozy, quiet Lodge with comfortable and clean rooms, and hot water.We will spend the morning birding at the trails and feeders of La Minga Ecolodge. There we will have the opportunity to watch birds like endemic Multicolored Tanager, endemic Colombian Chachalaca ,Saffron crowned Tanager, Golden naped Tanager, Acorn Woodpecker, Golden Olive Woodpecker, Long Tailed Sylph, Brown violetear, Booted Raquettail, Western and Andean Emerald, Bronzy Inca, Green Honeycreeper, White naped Brush Finch, Bananaquit, Barred Becard, Uniform Antshrike, Crested and Golden headed Quetzal, Flame rumped Tanager, Slate throated Redstart, Azara’s spinetail, Golden Crowned Flycatcher, Green and black Fruiteater, Black billed thrush among many other. In the afternoon we’ll drive to el Queremal where we will stay at Hotel Campanario.

Day 5 Upper Anchicayá – El Descanso
The Anchicayá river basin is part of one of the most diverse National Parks in the world, Los Farallones National Park, and perhaps one of the hottest birding areas in Colombia. El Descanso belongs to “Doña Dora” and her family,she is a hard working woman that keeps hummingbird and fruit feeders to attract many birds. It is the best place to see birds like the gorgeous Toucan Barbet, Green Thorntail, Rufous Throated Tanager, Silver throated Tanager and many more. During this day we may see birds including, Crowned Woodnymph, Masked Tityra, Three striped Warbler, White shouldered Tanager, Lemon rumped Tanager, Purple Honeycreeper, Green Honeycreeper, Buff Throated Saltator, Violet Tailed Sylph, White tailed Hillstar, Moustached Puffbird, Smoky brown Woodpecker, Pacific Antwren, Lemon Browed Flycatcher, Black Chinned Mountain Tanager, Bay headed Tanager, Golden collared Honeycreeper, Black headed Brush

Day 6 Nature Camp / Lower Anchicayá
Within the EPSA Facilities, we will be on the lookout for Chocó and Spot-breasted Woodpeckers, Moustached Puffbird, Fasciated Tiger-heron, Collared Aracari, Chestnut-mandibled Toucan, Chocó Toucan, Spot crowned Barbet, Rufous Tailed Jacamar, Broad-Billed Motmot, Scarlet-and white Tanager, Gray-and-gold Tanager, Blue whiskered Tanager, Emerald Tanager, Crimson backed Tanager, Scarlet thighed Dacnis, Blue Dacnis, Purple and Red legged Honeycreeper, White headed Wren, Slaty capped Shrike Vireo, Lemon browed Flycatcher, among many others. After lunch we will transfer to the nice Hotel La Huerta , close to Calima Lake.

Day 7 Parque de la Uva/Transfer to Manizales
We will have early breakfast and we will drive to Parque de la Uva, where we will visit an Aloe plantation. There we will have chances to see and pohotograph the amazing Ruby-Topaz Hummingbird, Rufous Tailed Hummingbird, Steely-vented Hummingbird, Black throated Mango, endemic Apical Flycatcher, Spectacled parrotlet, Bar-crested Antshrike, Vermillion Flycatcher, Saffron Finch, Blueblack Grassquit, Yellow bellied Seedeater,. We will leave in the afternoon heading to Tinamou Hotel , where we’ll be spending the night. Tinamou Hotel lies close to Manizales, the main city of Caldas Province in the central Andes. Nowadays the city is the main center for the production of Colombian coffee.

Day 8 Tinamou Hotel
This is a special place 30 minutes from Manizales Caldas for photography and bird watching. At the Tinamou Hotel reserve we can observe and Photograph Gray headed Dove, Stripe throated hermit, Rufous breasted Hermit, Long-billed starthroad, White vented Plumeleteer, Western Emerald, Black throated Mango, Moustached Puffbird, Grayish Piculet, Lineated Woodpecker, Smoky Brown Woodpecker, Great Antshrike, endemic Parkers Antbird, Jet Antbird, Blue lored Antbird, Green Kingfisher, Greenish Elaenia, endemic Colombian Chachalaca, Clay colored Thrush, Golden crowned Warbler, Gray headed Tanager, Guira Tanager, among others. We’ll drive to Rio Blanco Natural Reserve in the afternoon, where we’ll stay at the Rio Blanco Lodge.

Río Blanco Nature Reserve is located in the Central Colombian Andes 15 minutes from the city of Manizales The feeders close to the guest house, as well as flowering plants around the building, attract an interesting variety of hummingbirds and Tanagers, such as Buff breasted Mountain Tanager, Blue winged Mountain Tanager, White sided Flowerpiercer, Rusty Flowerpiercer, Masked Flowerpiercer, Tourmaline Sunangel, Buff tailed Coronet, Speckled Hummingbird, Bronzy and Collared incas, lesser and Sparkling Violetears, White-throated Wedgebill, Long-Tailed Sylph, White bellied Woodstar, Gray Browed Brushfinch, Slaty Brushfinch, among others. Never the less, the main attraction for birders visiting the reserve are the “antpitta” feeding stations that are visited regularly by 4 species: Chestnut crowned, near endemic Bicolored, endemic Brown banded and Slate crowned antpittas. In addition we may find other interesting bird for incidental photography such as Masked Trogon, Andean Motmot, Black-billed Mountain Toucan, Crimson Mantled woodpecker, Mountain Elaenia, Cinnamon Flycatcher, Pale edged Flycatcher, Green and Black Fruiteater, and many more. Day 10 Hacienda el Bosque / Nevados National Park
We will get up early and go Hacienda el el Bosque, on our way to National Park Los Nevados on the highest part of the Colombian Central Andes. This is a very special place for Photographers where we will have chances to See and Photograph birds like Gray breasted Mountain Toucan, Crimson mantled Woodpecker, Rufous Antpitta, Crescent faced Antpitta, Barred Fruiteater, among many other interesting birds. From there we will continue our journey to Nevados National Park. We will reach elevations of up to 4000 masl. and temperatures between 8 and 25 °C .Los Nevados National Park, encompasses 38,000 ha (93,900 ac) and is home to four snow peaks. Birding is done along a lightly traveled road that winds up the mountain through patches of elfin forest that give way to paramo. The scenery is remarkable, with the emblematic frailejon/ Espeletia plants endemic to Colombia, Venezuela, and Ecuador. A paradise for high elevation species, where we might find adapted birds , such as endemic Buffy Helmetcrest and Rainbow bearded Thornbill, Viridian Metaltail, Stout billed Cinclodes, Brown backed Chat Tyrant , Golden crowned Tanager, Plumbeous Sierra Finch, Andean Tit Spinetail, Paramo and Plain colored seedeaters, Tawny Antpitta, among many other birds. We will have our breakfast at the hotel and spend the morning at the feeders from Termales del Ruiz hotel to Manizales, where we can photograph amazing birds, such as the Scarlet bellied Mountain tanager, Lacrimose Mountain Tanager, Glossy Flowerpiercer, Blue-backed Conebill, Rainbow- bearded thornbill, Golden-breasted Puffleg, Tyrian and Ciridian Metaltails, Buffwinged Starfrontlet, Mountain Velvetbreast, Black-thighed Puffleg, the spectacular Sword billed Hummingbird, Great Sapphirewing , Sparkling Violetear, Shining Sunbeam, Pale naped Brush Finch, Golden fronted redstart, White banded Tyrannulet, and many more. We will drive just before noon to Termales Santa Rosa de Cabal.

Dia 12 Cortaderal
Cortaderal is another route of the PNN Los Nevados, to close the tour an incidental departure to look for one of the most threatened species Blue-headed parrot, in this route we can also find species such as White-capped Tanager, Black-billed Mountain-Toucan, Gray-breasted Mountain-Toucan, Grass-green Tanager, Lachrymose Mountain-Tanager, Scarlet-bellied Mountain-Tanager, Hooded Mountain-Tanager, Purple-backed Thornbill and many more. We will drive just before noon to Pereira Airport, and arrive there at 5 pm where the Tour finishes.
